From first question to policy in your inbox.
The whole process happens online. Here's every step, and how long each one takes.
- 1
Choose your route 1 minute
Families and most people go straight to an instant quote. If you climb, ski backcountry, paraglide or do other mountain sports, take the activity check instead.
- 2
See your price 2 minutes
Compare real prices from Canadian insurers, or build your climber plan with the estimator. No email needed to look.
- 3
Apply online about 20 minutes
Answer the application and health questions from your phone or laptop. You can talk to Philip at any point, but you never have to.
- 4
Submission and underwriting a few days
We submit your application. The insurer may check the MIB (the industry's medical information database), call to confirm answers or, on some regular plans, ask for a paramedical exam.
- 5
Approval about a week
Once approved, you review and sign the policy electronically. Coverage starts once the first payment is made.
- 6
Your policy ongoing
Your documents arrive by email. Update beneficiaries or ask questions any time. We'll check in if life changes, like a new home or a new baby.

About the process.
How long does approval take?
Most applications are approved in a few days to a week. Some insurers ask for extra information, which can add time.
Will I need a medical exam?
Most people don't. Simplified-issue plans never need one. On regular plans, the insurer may ask for a paramedical exam depending on your age, coverage and health answers.
When does coverage start?
When the policy is approved, you accept it and the first payment is made.
